Santa's Secondhand Scores

Christmas came and went so quickly this year. My daughter's gifts came together like most things in my life. Part plan, part luck and 90 percent thrift.

I shopped the fall Just Between Friends Tacoma sale with Christmas in mind. I happened upon a cradle, stroller and high chair for her baby dolls. My score cost $23.

The item I was most excited about found me by way of Facebook. I looked for a used work shop like this at consignment sales, thrift shops and Craigslist but always found them overpriced.

This score came through my newsfeed at the right time and the right price, $25. The former owner, an adorable boy named Charlie, even carried it to my car.

I hope you and your families have wonderful and warm holiday memories. The origin of our gifts don't matter. New and used goods can be gifted in love just the same. It's the thrill of the hunt and the satisfaction of the score that makes it extra special for me.

Oh and that money I saved shopping secondhand? Going straight towards tickets to Amsterdam I'm the spring.

Here's to a happy and thrifty 2015!
